Dec06 Photographing cars is cooler than it used to be

Almost seems too easy….except for that huge rig they’re using. I’m just amazed at the results from this. I’m not a huge Audi fan, but I really wasn’t looking at the car much during this video!

Nov04 What’s Bri been up to? A Knight’s Poem

I recently finished a really interesting and great project for Buckingham Browne & Nichols (BB&N). This shoot involved a lot of pre-production, pinpoint production (shoot day), and much time in post. This was the first kind of project I’ve done like this and it was a really great experience and can’t wait to do more like it! A few SERIOUS shout outs go to my brother, Jeff Tetrault, who helped me right from the beginning with concept and design and was the lead writer and consultant for me. Meg Rodney was a great assistant director and camera operator. Sheryl Lanzel did amazing as production assistant and production still photographer. Scott Venable is the knight (on Gaelen the horse) and Frank Hildebrand did the voiceover. The entire video was shot using Sony FS100 and Canon 5D MkII and edited in FCP7 & Soundtrack Pro. All behind the scenes photographs and production stills ©Sheryl Lanzel.

Jun26 The Duopod Concept

Well now this is just quite cool. If it’s possible to make something like this that’s not priced in the stratosphere I think it would be the opening to a whole new era of DSLR video rigs. Don’t know about you, but I’m getting a little tired of shopping for 18 different rigs that really can’t work in conjunction with each other.

Mountkestrel, a Curve Creative brand, is paving the way into a new era for a camera mounts & accessories with their premiere design, the Duopod. With multi-functionality & adaptablity in mind, the Duopod was designed specifically for current hybrid DSLRs to perform as a steadycam, transform into a shoulder or chest mount, placed in a neutral position to be used as a tripod, or attached to a tripod for 360 degree movement. A versatile tool to suit the needs of professional & consumer users alike.

Jun23 Lytro – The no-focus camera

I don’t know about you, but this scares me…just a little…

“The camera that turns light into living pictures.

This year, Lytro will debut the first light field camera for everyone. OK – you’re not everyone. You are a beautiful, unique snowflake. And you deserve an amazing camera that lets you capture life’s singular moments, like baby’s first steps not second, with maximum magic and minimum hassle. No more fighting with dials and settings and modes. No more flat, boring, static photographs. With a Lytro, you unleash the light.”

So a camera that needs no dials, no focusing, no nothing….you focus AFTER you take the photo….huh?  wow…. well, click here to get the nerd explanation. But let’s suffice it to say that Lytro could quite possibly be a came changer for the photography industry. Take a look at the Lytro image gallery to become a believer–just click around on the image to change it’s focus point.

Nov08 What’s Bri been up to?

Really….I’ve been up to a LOT. There is a ton of new work coming (mostly interiors) so stay tuned.

As a little side project, I have been shooting a little bit of rowing. All of these photographs were taken on the Charles River very early in the morning. Particularly, this day was 2 days before the very large regatta, the Head of the Charles. There were many boats on the water–so much practicing–it was an amazing site. The setup was in full swing as well: tents everywhere, trucks and trailers, and even people scouting out the best spots to be to watch the races. It was a really fun time being out there and I hope you enjoy what I experienced with these images!

Not much I need to say, it just needs to speek for itself.

Sep10 What’s next for video?

When it comes to movies and video, everyone’s been talking a lot about 3D. It seems that everything is 3D nowadays. But is that REALLY where this is going? I think that the push for 3D was way too fast and too strong and ‘they’ didn’t ease it out to us enough. So as fast as 3D has came alive (as it were), it will probably disappear just as fast. So let’s just say that were the case…so then what could be next? Saw this on Engadget and had to share it. What a cool concept! HDR Video? Who would’ve ever thought? Could somebody have made some kind of plugin for Final Cut that could have done this fake with any video footage? Probably, but it would be like taking one photograph, processing it a bunch of different ways and using all those to create an HDR image–just doesn’t cut it, it’s never the same as having pure raw images. For this experiment, 2 Canon 5D Mk2s were used at different exposures and combined together to create an HDR movie. It think this is very cool and hope it catches on!
