If you’ve ever had any kind of geek/tech conversation with me you know that all I’ve been talking about for the past few months is Apple needing to update [in particular] the desktop Mac Pro line. Well finally they have done it! With some other updates as well! The Mac Pro as always has been a powerhouse–now with updated Intel processors, improved graphics, better hard drive options and more. Find out all the details here: Mac Pro on Apple. Apple also released new iMacs, a new cinema display, and of course the new Magic Trackpad, which is a new peripheral from Apple offering a laptop-style trackpad (that’s right, finger gestures and all) in a 80% larger version for your desktop machine. Some great improvements Apple! Way to steer the ‘big eye’ away from the iPhone 4 antenna flaw.
Shooting for Yummly
Once again, setup today in ‘studio a’ shooting for Yummly with Jim Hooper and Chef German Lam of Glam Foods. We had a great day as usual, stay tuned for more movies!

Today’s tip: photographing interiors
Having had the most experience shooting architectural interiors, I have developed some very simple essential tools and techniques that work almost every single time I’m shooting interiors and exteriors. One of the most important tools in my camera bag is my hot shoe bubble level.
This very compact piece of equipment (for only around $25 I might add) allows me to very quickly level my camera on two axis’ (pitch and roll) so as not to get annoying perspective distortion. Having straight vertical and horizontal lines in architecture photography is aesthetically pleasing and doesn’t distract from the natural beauty of the architecture and/or design.

Think about it…
One of my favorite and most respected authors of our time, Seth Godin writes very often about anything and everything pertaining to business and marketing. What I love most about him is that he never really pinpoints single industries, but instead speaks very broad and makes you think how it relates to you. Here’s one of his latest blog posts that is one of many that makes me stop and think.
What’s the point?
An idea turns into a meeting and then it turns into a project. People get brought along, there’s free donuts, there’s a whiteboard and even a conference call.It feels like you’re doing the work, but at some point, hopefully, someone asks, “what’s the point of this?”
Is it worth doing?
Compared to everything else we could be investing (don’t say ‘spending’) our time on, is this the scariest, most likely to pay off, most important or the best long-term endeavor?
Or are we just doing it because no one had the guts along the way to say STOP.
Are you doing work worth doing, or are you just doing your job?
iPhone fashion shoot
I know, it’s a little insane, but I just had to show it! Enjoy and happy shooting this weekend!
Make sure and watch until the end!
Tech Talk: YouTube Mobile
YouTube has released a mobile version of their website which I have found works far superior to the default YouTube app–at least on my iPhone 3G with iOS4. Compared to the app, the mobile site seems to be faster, easier to navigate, and plays MUCH improved quality videos (especially with addition of the “HQ” button. On your mobile, the site is: m.youtube.com
Here’s a quick video they posted about it
Today’s Tip: Lightroom tethering
Did you know… in the newest release of Adobe Lightroom, you can now tether your digital camera directly to the software instead having to use another piece of software and ‘watched’ folders, etc. No need for Nikon’s Camera Control Pro or Canon’s EOS Utility anymore. Here’s a couple of quick screen shots for a little preview!

Here is also the complete list of supported cameras straight from Adobe’s website. I’m positive more will come available with subsequent free updates (v3.1, v3.2, etc).
The direct Adobe link is here.
